DESCRIPTION:

Centro del Valdarno Inferiore located on high ground between the south-eastern slopes of the hills of the Arno and Cerbaie fitted with rock since the mid-thirteenth century, it was under the jurisdiction of the bishops of Lucca until the conquest of Pisa by the Ghibellines victorious Montaperti.

The old core is the most interesting examples of medieval Tuscan village, with typical oval structure set on a single main street.

There exist the remains of the fortifications and the fourteenth-century Praetorian palace, with a few coats of arms.

The collegiate church of S. John, with a bell tower, has a precious pulpit Lucchese Romanesque of the twelfth century, with carved decoration and a baptismal font.
